In "Doctor Mighty and the Case of Ennui", Paul Melko takes us through the mid-life crisis of Doctor Mighty, a medical school drop out with superhuman strength. He lives in a world filled with an endless cast of quirky superheroes and villains alike. After a one-night stand with his archenemy Auntie Arctic, an evil villain with an insatiable taste for frozen food, Doctor Mighty reexamines his moral position on the sliding scale of good versus evil.
I'm a great fan of cleverly crafted camp, but I found this story too heavy on the camp and too light on the clever. Perhaps the doctor's cynical view of the world didn't suit the story's poke at the comic genre, or perhaps the humor simply didn't work for me.
